In a rather shocking turnout for the series, the playerbase went through a massive increase when the Steam rollback beta was released - raising its player count from about 100-200 on any given day to a whopping 4000 players on its first day alone, managing to become the most played fighting game on Steam, beating even Guilty Gear Strive and Tekken 7 in the process.
After 6 long years since the release of Central Fiction and the series being inactive due to Arc System Works taking on other fighting game projects, the unthinkable happened: rollback netcode is coming.
The news that Guilty Gear Xrd: -REVELATOR- will receive an update in the form of a digital download and a retail release at much lower price than it's predecessor (ala Ultra Street Fighter IV) has alleviated some of the complaints about how Arcsys charge full price for their Updated Rereleasees and hope this game follows the same format.Ragna actually coming up with a plan, curbstomping most of the cast and stopping the bad guys almost singlehandedly can be seen as this for those who were tired of his jobber status.Come July 2017, and it looks like ArcSys is finally starting to make good on that promise. ArcSys saying they plan to support the game post-launch with DLC may mean they'll commission an English dub and/or more characters down the line.
